About the Department

Department of Sociology is one of the youngest departments of the college, it was established in 2015, with an objective of conducting teaching and research on the rousing problems associated with social change in the context of development and industrialization process in Angul district. Since its inception the core thematic concern of the department has been to question about the problems of present society and develop a systematic and comparative approach to bring an analysis in the social phenomenon through its perspective. Presently department of sociology follows the State Model Syllabus as prescribed by the Department of Higher Education. The syllabus covers concepts like Indian society, Sociology of Environment, classical sociological thinkers, social change and development , gender, rural sociology, urban sociology, globalization, research methodology, movements, Sociology of health, sociology of Education, population and society, social disorganization, tribal studies and dissertation. This department has 2 faculties. The alumni of this department have pursued Post Graduation in different universities of Odisha.

Vision : We are looking forward to promoting and encouraging a culture of high quality teaching, learning and serving the societal needs by fostering, promoting and enhancing sociological knowledge to the students.
